A brilliant century from Pondy saw Meths see off Muffield in the opening match of the season. Captain lost the toss and was inserted by the visitors, who were relegated last year and hoping for a swift return to division B.
However Meths, with possibly their best batting side out for a number of years started strongly with Mossy taking his injury pain out on their bowling attack. Steady departed early though bring Pondy to the crease. Mossy was finally out for a good knock of 42. Captain quickly followed following a dubious decision - however, both Butty and Big G chipped in and supported the undefeatable Pondy.
The 40 overs saw Meths leave a daunting target of over 250 for the visitors and Pondy on 106 not out.
In response, the visitors managed only 52 (ish) with Mossy taking 4 wickets and Captain chipping in with 5 for 12.
Big thanks to Phil and Scot for making one in at the last minute and fielding well.
A great result which must leave other teams quaking in their boots as the Meths push for promotion in 2009!!
